Pros and Cons:

3 Reviews of Popular Cloud Accounting Software

We know accounting software.

Through our many accounting clients, we have had the luxury of getting to use the array of software used by firms of all sizes. Xero, Sage, and Quickbooks Online are all very popular accounting platforms but each has its strengths and weaknesses.

Which software is right for your firm? Find out below.

Xero

3.5/5 Stars – Best Price: $21

Pros

Xero’s largest appeal to small businesses is its affordability. Along with the price point, thorough record and transaction forms, approval levels, and inventory tracking are highlights of Xero. It also provides customizable reports, online quotes, smart lists, and an updated expense tracking feature. Xero also provides exceptional online support.

Cons

Currently, payroll is not available for all states. While they provide great online support, they lack phone and chat support. Their mobile applications are also lackluster.

Our Take

Xero is a great small business accounting software for payroll, inventory tracking, and mission-critical business functions.

Quickbooks Online

Pros

Quickbooks has a top-notch user interface. Expansive additions and integrations make it the most comprehensive small business accounting software.

Cons

The price is the highest of any accounting software. Their online documentation is also lacking.

Our Take

Quickbooks is über flexible and user-friendly. It is the industry standard for a reason. Unfortunately, they seem to know that.

Sage Business Cloud Accounting

2.5/5 Stars – Best Price: $19
Pros

Sage excels in inventory and project tracking. They offer automated sales tax which is a huge perk for small businesses. Sage mobile applications are also pretty good.

Cons

Sage misses out on some common features of the others on this list like time tracking, payroll and others. In addition, it also feels much slower and more dated than it’s competitors.

Our Take

Sage Cloud Accounting is a great budget option if it meets your needs, and if you can deal with its dated appearance and responsiveness.
